In her book, The Artist Way, Julia Cameron gives us basic tools for recovering creativity. Morning pages is the first one and requires writing, first thing in the morning, three pages of anything on your mind, even if your mind makes no sense. Morning pages are a way to loosen the chaff from the creative seeds in your mind.
A friend gave me The Artist Way sixteen years ago and I have read the book and followed the path several times. The past 15 months I have been working on finding my way to the next right steps to take with my life. Several times I spotted my copy on a bookshelf in the office and thought about a revisit.
My morning pages were done in notebooks bought just for that purpose. By hand, I would write whatever came to mind for three pages. Julia Cameron was correct, the exercise worked. The past five years, I was sporadic with my morning pages and there were several years without them.
Morning pages are back in my life again. They crept back in while I was not looking. Every day I have pages of notes and creative seeds are popping out all over. I am recovering my creativity and I feel great……
